4 days/3 nights, daily from/to Quito The Mindo Cloud Forest is one of the most famous areas for bird and nature lovers. Its diversity of hummingbirds and other bird species, as well as orchids, is unique in the world. Assure yourself of its variety.

Itinerary

Day 1: Quito – Nanegal
The old road “Carretera de Mindo” takes you towards Mindo. On the way you have the opportunity to observe rare birds, butterflies, and plants. Around noon you reach the parking lot where you park your car. The hike up to the lodge takes about 2 hours. Late in the afternoon you have the possibility to hike to 3 beautiful water falls. (-/L/D)

Day 2: Cloud forest adventure Today you have the chance to go to the tower from where you can observe the birds or you can visit the waterfalls. According to your interest you can learn about the elaboration of panela and melcocha. Relax in the hammocks and admire the landscape. (B/L/D)

Day 3: Mindo – Mindo-Nambillo Reserve – Waterfall – Canopy Today you have an opportunity to observe the butterflies, orchids and over 400 species of birds found in Mindo. After a scenic hike to the “Cascada Nambillo” you can enjoy a refreshing swim or simply bask in the sun. The afternoon offers a jungle canopy adventure. (B/-/-)

Day 4: Birding – Orchids and Butterflies
Early in the morning you set out on a birding trip that offers a good chance of seeing an Andean cock-of-the-rock. Next stop: an orchid and butterfly farm. Towards evening you return to Quito to the hotel of your choice. (B/-/-)
