Itinerary

Day 1 (Tue): Cotopaxi National Park
Visit the Cotopaxi National Park. Make a short hike across the high plain of Limpiopungo (3.830 m / 12,565 ft). You have the opportunity to reach the Jose Ribas refuge at 4.800 m / 15,748 ft. Late in the afternoon, arrival in Patate, which offers an amazing view of the active Tungurahua volcano (5.015 m / 16,456 ft). Day 2 (Wed): Pastaza Canyon – Baños
Drive along the famous waterfall route of the Pastaza Canyon to Rio Verde, where a short walk will take you to the roaring waterfall of “Pailon del Diablo” (Devil’s Pan). In the afternoon, you arrive in the charming town of Baños, famous for its hot thermal springs. (B/-/-)

Day 3 (Thu): Market in Guamote - Chimborazo National Park - Riobamba  The morning is reserved for a visit to the traditional indigenous market of Guamote. At noon, you drive to the Chimborazo (6.310 m / 20.700 ft), the highest volcano in Ecuador. Short hike until you reach the Edward Whymper refuge at 5.000m / 16.400 ft. Drive to Riobamba. (B/-/-)

Day 4 (Fri): Train Ride across the Devil’s Nose – Ingapirca – Cuenca
An exciting train ride takes you across the Devil’s Nose (Nariz del Diablo), where the train zigzags several hundred meters upon the mountain. Afterwards, visit the Inca ruins at Ingapirca. Today’s final destination is Cuenca. (B/-/-)

Day 5 (Sat): Cuenca – Cajas National Park – Guayaquil During the morning you will have the chance to explore the beautiful colonial city of Cuenca, its boardwalk along the Rio Tomebamba, the cathedral, and the colorful flower market. In the afternoon, you drive through El Cajas National Park until you reach the bustling port of Guayaquil. (B/-/-)
