5 days/4 nights (optional 3 days) Daily from/to Guayaquil Return to Guayaquil or Quito This is your opportunity to explore small, laid back fishing villages and endless remote beaches. An excursion to Isla de la Plata allows you to observe blue-footed booby birds, frigate birds, and, between June and September, giant humpback whales along Ecuador’s coast.

Itinerary

Day 1: Birdwatching, fishing villages, and coastal rainforest

A day filled with impressions of fishing villages, beautiful beaches and the coastal rainforest. Drive along the famous “Ruta del Sol”. A relaxing trip through open grasslands takes you to Santa Elena, where you can visit the “Los Amantes de Sumpa” museum and one of the oldest cemeteries in South America. Continue your scenic drive through a number of small coastal villages until you arrive at the colorful fishing village of Puerto Lopez. (-/-/-)

Day 2: Isla de la Plata, the Silver Island After breakfast, you will be accompanied by a local naturalist guide on a boat ride to Isla de la Plata for a hike. You are sure to encounter blue-footed and masked booby birds, albatrosses. From mid-June through September, the coastal waters of Ecuador are home to giant humpback whales. There will also be time for swimming and snorkeling.  (B/BL/-)

 
Day 3: Los Frailes beach
A visit to Machalilla National Park, and learn about the traditions and way of living of the Agua Blanca town. Afterwards you can relax at the beautiful beach of Los Frailes. In the afternoon you drive to San Lorenzo where you will be sleeping for two nights. (B/-/-)
 

Day 4: Handicrafts & Nature Reserve Pacoche
In the morning, you leave the fishing village of Puerto Lopez to return south along the coastal highway. You will pass small villages famous for their local crafts made of Tagua and Coco. If you like, you can go for a hike through the nearby dry forest, before returning to Guayaquil in the afternoon. (B/-/-)
 

Day 5: San Lorenzo – Guayaquil
Today you can rest at the beach of San Lorenzo. In the afternoon you return to Guayaquil.
