| Liana Lodge is nestled deep within the rainforest on the banks of the Rio Arajuno. It is about five hours from Quito and can only be reached by boat. Liana Lodge is part of the rainforest preservation project Selva Vida, which also features an animal rescue center. | ||||
| Accommodations are in 8 small, but clean duplexes with private baths. A naturalist guide will explain the fauna and flora of the rainforest to you. In the evening, you can enjoy one of the local beverages in front of an open fire, at the bar, or in your hammock. | ||||
Activities
We can custom-tailor a program just for you. Our naturalist guides are native Quichua Indians, who know the rainforest inside and out. The following activities can be arranged:
- Rainforest hike: guided hike (full day, half day or shorter)
- Guided tour of the animal rescue center amaZOOnico that allows you to see monkeys and other rainforest creatures up close and personal
- Visit to a Quichua family on Anaconda Island. Try the local “Chicha” beverage, practice some blow dart shooting, and learn about the many uses of native plants.
- Rafting: A motorized canoe takes you upstream along the Rio Arajuna. You build your own traditional Quichua raft to float back down to the lodge.
- Fishing for piranhas
- Panning for gold, using a traditional Quichua method.
Tours available by special request:
- Night hikes in the rainforest
- Nighttime canoe ride on Rio Arajuno in a dugout canoe (most memorable in the moonlight)
