	Sacha Lodge is one of Ecuador’s premier Amazon lodges. It offers the best in jungle adventures, coupled with outstanding service. A motorized canoe will take you from Coca along the Rio Napo, the largest river in Ecuador’s Amazon region, to Sacha Lodge. Built on a lakeshore, the lodge is about 50 miles, or a 2 ½-hour boat ride, east of Coca. Accommodations are in rooms with shower/toilet and terrace.

A typical day at Sacha Lodge begins at sunrise, when the animals of the rainforest are most active because of the cooler morning temperatures. In the afternoon, tours start between 3 and 4 pm and end at sunset, just as hosts of frogs and insects begin their nighttime concert.

Besides hikes through the rainforest and rides in dugout canoes, Sacha Lodge offers many other attractions.

Activities:

• 140-foot observation tower to watch birds, howler monkeys, and sloths
• Tour of one of the largest butterfly farms in Ecuador
• Visit to one of the largest parrot mineral licks (where hundreds of colorful parrots congregate—quite an amazing sight)
• Night hikes
• Nighttime boat ride to observe caimans
• Swimming in the blackwater lake of Pilchicocha

-          Flight from Quito to Coca and back (currently USD 136) or bus ride from Quito to Coca and back (approx. 8-10 hours/USD 10 one way)
